Offshore Wind Farm Project Development

We have been assisting Taiwanese Government with de-risking the development of offshore wind farms. We developed Guidelines that walk developers and regulators through the key steps needed to facilitate offshore wind development in an efficient, cost effective and environmentally responsible manner. They provide a road map for development, identify key development tasks and provide a commentary, drawing on European and Asian experience.

Deep Water Foundations for Offshore Wind Turbines

BMT are part of a consortium developing the design and installation methods for concrete foundations for offshore wind farms in deep water.
Client: DECC, EON and DONG

Gaining Consent for Deep Water Structures

BMT developed the environmental impact statement for the Beatrice offshore wind farm
Client: Talisman Energy

Maximising Availability of Offshore Wind Farms

BMT have developed a suite of analysis tools that allow the interactions between the reliability of the wind turbines, transformer stations and export cables, the weather windows for maintenance, the support vessels and the generating capability to be understood and predictions made of operational availability and project cost effectiveness
Clients: Naikun, Scira and others

Reliability, Maintainability and Survivability of Marine Energy Devices.

BMT produced a guide for assessing and achieving the required levels of reliability, maintainability and survivability of marine energy devices.
Clients: European Marine energy Centre and the BSI

Tidal Stream Device Foundations.

BMT undertook a review of the options for the foundations and moorings for tidal stream devices.
Clients: The Carbon Trust

Navigational Safety of Offshore Wind Farms

BMT devised the methodology for assessing the marine navigational safety risks of offshore wind farms. and have applied the it to wind farms in the UK and in Hong Kong
BMT developed a "clearways map" designating areas where wind farms cannot be located
Clients: The DTI (now DECC) and the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency
